Any Fiat Tech experts in the house?
Discussion
Hiya
Not sure where to post this, so mods, feel free to bump it somewhere else if you like.
I'm looking for a bit of advice.
I have a 1997 2.5Turbo Ducato motorhome.
The engine version is 230BEMAB according to the sticker under the bonnet.
Recentlt the glow plug light came on while driving, which I assume is indicating a fault.
I have removed the plastic cover off the top of the engine to reveal the injectors but (ashamed as I am ) I can't seem to locate the glow plugs.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, please.
The owners handbook refers to a "Thermo starter device" but i assume that this is for very cold temps only (if even fitted to my vehicle.
Any help gratefully recieved.

I think that model has a single glow plug in the inlet manifold. It might even have a different name to glow plug, I worked on the JTD engines on the newer models so bit of a limited experience.
ETA, the name is thermo start as you mentioned above. This is the glow plug for that engine.

The thermostart is rarely in use unless you live in very cold climates. Instead the diesel is preheated. If the heater has broken it would use the thermostart all the time. It just heats up the plug and when up to temp fuel is added to create the flame.
I don't know much more, but I'm assuming you have one of these.

Is the fuel prehaeted by the number 13 in the diagram above or a separate fuel heater somewhere else?I don't know much more, but I'm assuming you have one of these.

Had a quick look around, and think there is no heater, other than the thermostart. This will only really get used if in minus temps. Thanks
Just read another of your posts on Fiat technical. Could well be water in the fuel filter, but might also be worth getting him to check the battery voltage when under load. Assuming he's running fridge etc, at constant higher speeds and loads he might not be delivering 12v anymore and could start these warning lights.

I will investigate more.
The problen is that it is so intermittant that bythe time you stop or get home it has fixed itself.
