Any experiences would be welcome to help me make my decision. It's a bit of a wildcard after years of obsessing over other cars! Seen a great example. Boot seems in fine nick but concerned about the boot weld issues. Also worried about 300+ bhp going to the back wheels without TC! Especially as our lass will be driving it!

Absolutely beautiful in the flesh tho.

Roadster or Coupe?

I like both, although I'm basing this on having driven neither. But the M Coupe is IMO one of the best looking BMW's ever and surely a classic.

Can't see a problem with the power and RWD. Just don't drive like a plum. If worried an advanced driving course or even a drift day might be money well spent.

I share a Z3M Coupe with my sister - it's an early S50, without TC, and like anything else, it only goes as quickly as you want it to.

Driven sensibly, it's a pussy cat, it is good fun when you want it to be though

Almost certainly my all time favourite Beemer. I wouldn't think twice about it, AND you can buy with your heart and your head. Find a good one, keep it good, and it will pay dividends one day!

I've never been a BMW fan, but these things are just awesome.

What was it Autocar said? Something along the lines of "A modern day Shelby Cobra for the Apple PowerBook set."

I love that smile

Thanks for the posts - good advice!

I'm looking at an S50 Estoril blue roadster. Good to hear the power is controllable.

Might have to do it!

Just a small edit of encouragement

Ours is an Estoril Blue Coupe - trust me, you won't regret it

Great cars, the boot weld issue can be worked around, have a look on zroadster. Near enough free motoring as these things hold there value really well.

Make sure the wife knows not to boot it in the wet, in fact make sure you know what you are doing as well lol.

Awesome, get it bought.

Best to take this sort of advice from people who've actually been in one. Usually I can find something nice to say about any sort of sports car, but IMO the Z3 was horrid and the quick versions were even more horrid. If ever a car was built down to a price it was the Z3. Save your cash and buy something more modern.

I had an S50 M-Coupe. Brilliant brilliant car that is much missed. As others have said check the boot floor, but also change the VANOS bolts as soon as you get it. Otherwise the engine is a masterpiece!
