One of our little boys is missing.

Went out early saturday morning and we haven't seen him since. We're both absolute wrecks at the moment. Have been round the entire neighbourhood a dozen times, put up posters, leaflets through doors etc but nothing.

Its just the not knowing where he is or whats happened thats killing us. Its just like he's vanished.

Both just keep bursting into tears at the slightest thing.

Sorry for posting, just needed to put it down I guess. All we want is to find him, and if he has passed, bring him home.

Ollie, if you are not with us anymore, I hope you are somewhere where the food is good, the sun always shines and you can sleep all you want - and know that you are adored.

He might just be out hunting due to the lovely weather. Or in a shed/garage somewhere, someone may come home and hear him yelling etc.

Thats what we keep telling ourselves. He's very panicky and scared of everything so were hoping he's in someones shed.

A few summers ago we had one of ours go missing for a week, she had gotten into a shed over the weekend. It does happen. And rather more often than you might think, with warm weekends people are in the garage/shed a lot doing gardening/BBQs, and nosey cats go for a look..

Know the feeling O so well, walking the street till all hours, fecking tears all over the place.

Ginger he was a big hairy tom cat, one of four cats, now he did like to dice with traffic so he went missing, bit like yours....we did the usual, walked the streets etc, put posters up in local shops, phoned local cat protection etc etc etc........all to no avail.

Well Ginger was to say the least a distant memory until almost 1 year later he walked back through the hedge with a meow in as much to say where's me dinner! Tears again.... joy this time.

Never give up hope...thoughts are with you.

Oh no frown

Shout for him later at night, when the traffic is less & sound carried further, you are more likely to hear him calling back to you.

No news is very definitely good news, especially if Ollie is chipped!

Fingers crossed by me & Pepi has his paws crossed too x

Thanks everyone, especially Ali Kat, im so sorry for Bast. Tried to leave a comment a few times yesterday but just couldn't seem to type the right words.

I know how easy it is to lock cats in garages etc, I once had a neighbour come round looking for a lost cat, asking to check garages.

I knew that the only time I had opened it that week was for a few seconds to reverse the car our, bt of course I would check. Found a very scared little cat in the rafters - It still amazes me how he got in.

Thank you, I've had them go missing never to be found, I've had them go missing & return after 6 months only to run off again! (he was never happy at the house tho), and I've found 2 frown

Not knowing, bad as I feel now, is far worse frown Pepi & I were praying Ollie had come home & will continue to do so.

How is your other boy coping? Were they litter brothers?

They were from different mothers but both orphaned at 3 weeks and fostered together. We helped hand rear them, then brought them home.

Toby (his brother) seems ok, but a bit down. Tilly the kitten keeps him occupied when hes in but he just goes out and sits by himself.

Council and RSPCA are a blank as well. Watershed moment will probably be the weekend, if hes trapped in a shed/garage then hopefully more people will be opening theirs.

Lots of threads seem to have said that when found they tended to be that bit further away than anyone thought so keep extending your boundaries.
I know the midnight trudge around the neighbourhood only too well but we were lucky and she was found but 6 weeks after she went missing.
Chin up, do a search on this forum, 6 weeks is nothing there have been plenty out longer who came home. The weathers fine, they can sleep happily anywhere at the moment. Don't give up and we'll keep our fingers crossed for you.

Don't give up hope, ours was gone 11 weeks before strolling in like he'd been gone 11 minutes! We'd resigned ourselves to the worst or that he'd just found a new home.

He may just be off on an adventure, they don't seem to have any sense of time so long as there is food available and with the warm weather he is just meandering about. If he is in a garage/shed etc, the weekend may be a good start but also late night calling can help if he hears you and shouts back. Ours used to get shut in a stable block when the weather was wet but would soon appear when the horses were let out again.

From bitter experience, so long as he's chipped, no news from vets/council is good news. When the worst happen to ours, we knew within a few hours frown

Fingers crossed, but don't expect a two-way grand reunion! They seem to be completely un-aware of the pain and tears they have caused in the 'ten minutes' they've been away and can't really be arsed with the extra cuddles, treats etc. smile

We had this some years back with one of ours - some allotments down the hill from us, much further than we'd thought they wandered - after several days I saw him and managed to call to him. He was somewhat spooked so even then slow to return home, his 'brother' (similar to OP - adopted together but unrelated) was with me (soppy sod!) and encouraged the other one to follow us home.

Don't give up and good luck!

He's home!

Wife got up for work this morning, opened the curtains and nearly fell over - he was sitting on the windowsill where he usually sits in the morning with a look of 'Breakfast?' on his face.

She couldn't believe it at first, she thought she was dreaming, and didn't want to touch him in case he disappeared!

He's absolutely fine, he was hungry but not 'I haven't eaten in 6 days' hungry, but if he came in last night he might have finished off whatever food the others left last night.

First time i've seen my wife smile in a week!

Thank you all for the encouragement over the last few days, it really helped.

At least we can joke about his 'mission' now - last week my niece came to stay and watched Phineas and Ferb, and after seeing Perry the Platypus, who's a slightly dopey, wide eyed platypus who happens to have a double life as a top secret agent, and we joked with her that Ollie was like him - so I wonder where his recent assignment sent him? laugh

Fantastic news biggrin. I'd keep him in for a few days. If he wasn't starving it's possible someone fed him/ took a shine to him. He may go back if let out too soon.

I remember the relief when we eventually found our old cat hiding un a garden after 5 days of searching. She hadn't eaten in that time and lost quite a lot of weight.

Thanks Bex, yep were keeping him in for a few days now, were ordering a locator thingy for his collar now, we know its going to be a marginal increase in the chances of finding him if this happens again, but every little would help.

If he's keeping a little old lady company somewhere then were fine with that, as long as we knew where so we could check if he does this again.
