I am lost & don't know where to start or do I SORN?

Hi everyone, this might be cheeky but I am hoping someone will come to my rescue. I have owned my beautiful 1987 XR3I cabby since 1992. This is not an add - I have to sell the car but I haven't a clue what to ask for it.
I am too emotionally invested in the car to be realistic about the price. It means much more to me than the few pennies I'll get for it but I simply can't keep, tax & MOT 2 cars. I am not a mechanic & have no desire to turn it into a project. If I keep it and SORN it that will be the last time it sees daylight until it turns to dust & I can't bear the thought of it not being driven.
I have never had to sell a car before and am making into some impossible mission, probably because deep down I don't want to say goodbye but I need the garage space and have elderly parents who live 4 hours away so had to get something a little more practical (Another Ford, Focus TDDI).
I MOT'd it in March & put 6 months tax on. Tax disk is still in the envelope as it's not been out of the garage since. Even before the Focus I've only been doing 600 miles a year in it.
Roof is manual. Mileage 63790. 5 x RS Turbo Alloys. Good tyres, 196/65 13's. No holes anywhere in or out - including the infamous battery well. Rust appearing on passenger side base of front window. Minor around petrol cap. Front offside wing & the outers of the wheel arches - you should see the pics - it's nothing really.
I put an add on at work and asked £1200. Is that really too much? I reckon it'll take 2-300 to get it looking pristine on the paintwork & new starter as doesn't drive enough so it's sticky. Never been in an accident. The only dent anywhere on the car is where some yobs got into the garage and thought it might be possible to prise the boot open with a screwdriver leaving a 2.5 inch screwdriver dent there.
Any suggestions for a sensible price? I don't want to go spending money on ads that no-one looks at because I'm aiming too high or put off as too low. Obviously I don't want to give it away either.

I'd try the classified ads in the various Ford owners clubs websites as that's where you'll get the best price and an audience who like that sort of thing.

Seems that a grand or so gets an ok one on eBay so £1200 and a bit of willingness to accept an offer is probably not that unreasonable.

Stick it up for 1500 and see what offers come in, if you present a good advert you stand a better chance than most of the old fords on offer.

I think that's fine. I personally like an ad where the sellers detailed everything they thing is wrong - particularly if a lot of it's minor. It generally means I'm not going to get any nasty surprises when I turn up to have a look. Good luck with the sale.
