Best place to get Gearbox remanufactured

Not had to have it done " yet " but would look in one of the new mini mags. Last time I hade a read there where at least two componeys offering exchange or drive in drive out services.

I had mine done under warranty and I believe the recon box cost something in the region of £1900.
Personally, if I had to pay for it myself, I'd get a 6-speed from a scrapper.

Mate just had one rebuilt for a customer by someone in Reading. Just run of the mill boxes, so find a reputable gearbox shop locally and get a garage to take it out. I believe the later bearings are metal caged so stopping the races from falling apart from being plastic, so once done, its done. As for fitting a six speed, I thought it was more work than just slotting it in.
