Guys,

I've been on here a long time reading your stories, mine have only been good over the six years or so and you lot were a great help before I bought mine so I thought a poll might be an easy way to gauge the experiences.
I've broken it down to road / occasional track and those that do regular track days / competition in a year, you can vote on several if that fits your experience.

Are cracked exhaust manifolds and a duff starter motor niggles or major probs?

Depends on your point of view!

I'd say the starter is a minor issue but with the cost of manifolds then that's more serious in my view. I suppose it's a personal thing what you think, I bought mine expecting some bills and have been lucky, those with 500+BHP and regularly using on the track would probably be more relaxed with some failures...

For instance I think £1500 for 6k miles on essential repairs on a 07 Passat a joke, this doesn't even cover other minor bits that didn't work!

My experience is my own fault. I brought an early 2.5 knowing the diff was an issue and the Ecu. All needed doing amongst other things. I've prob spent over 20k on repairs (excluding servicing, tyres etc) in the 7 yrs I've had her.

Wouldn't change anything though, I've learnt loads.

Owned for 2 yrs, 14K Miles,
Expensive work :

x2 Clutches,
Ally upright,
Manifolds,
Exhaust

Annoying work :
Alternator,
Battery,
Rear lights (bulbs)
Front lights (misting),
Rear chassis clean / repaint,
Throttle cable,
Starter motor,
Reglassing / filling / painting the damn splitter!!


I feel better knowing what has been replaced, History receipts fill a lever arch file but wouldnt change it for anything until GT2 prices come down at least.
