I have just watched the first in the second series 'Our War' on BBC 3 and was once again humbled by the amazing courage of the soldiers.

I understand that many of these young men leave the forces in their 20's and 30's and struggle to integrate back into society or find looking for a new career a bit of a challenge.

I would like to offer any support that I can, is there a charity or organisation that represents their interests that anyone knows of? ( I know that Help for Heroes does excellent work, but this is primarily for injured soldiers?)

Thanks,

TH

Speak to the Royal British Legion. They are geared up for this sort of task and pretty much know who's doing what in the resettlement arena.

Firstly - well done on showing your appreciation, it makes a big difference and is one of the things our American friends are way ahead of us on. As suggested the charity route is worth investigating - but if you want to focus your contribution with a personal touch I'd also suggest writing a letter to the Commandant of your local camp, and see what he/she suggests. Even if they are very busy they would get in touch as this sort of stuff hits a soft spot and is good for morale.

Great - I run a building company and I may be able to offer some advice or support for anyone who was planning to join my industry after theier career in the Forces

As an ex-carpenter looking to potentially leave the royal marines soon after 6 odd years of service I may be writing you a job application someday!
