Contacted the seller seems pleasant. Not bad for £750 hopefully it's a decent motor!

Awaits tails of Seat Toledos imploding at 100,000 miles and stories of wallet emptying terror.

Leon with a boot! Really like these, the sound of the V5 is also worth the fuel expense!

The seats are lovely in these.

I used to have a black one of those. I had the 150bhp version.

It was a decent car, the only thing that annoyed me was the rear suspension was a bit noisy - apparently a standard feature.

But as said above, the sound of that v5 is lovely.

Just watch out for worn cam chains, which can bring the engine management light on.

Just sorted out the insurance it's cheaper than the Golf result. Car has just had 12 months tax for £220 nearly a 3rd of the vehicle cost.

Yes I'm from Belper, there are a couple of PH'ers in Belper. Get yourself to one of our Midlands meets!

I was very tempted to get one of these at one point, simply for the noise.

I've found most people didn't share my enthusiasm, but I think it sounds great.

smile Good work. So the car only cost £530 then.

I really like these and that's my favourite colour for them. They got good reviews when new. Five pots sound good to my ears. Keep us updated.

Used to be a workshop foreman for seat and these were very underrated, the one u have bought is the 150bhp model, from a 2001 they become a 170bhp model.
Sound nice with a upgraded exhaust.

These are off the radar for most people, but offer a great overall package for the price imo yes

Plenty of V5s with over 150k on the clock and no issues. Chain driven so make sure you give the car fresh oil and you shouldn't have any problems.

One common problem is leaky door seals, but these will either have been fixed by now, or there is a great DIY guide on SeatCupra.net.

Lots of car for the money. All the expensive VAG stuff like Audis and TDis etc do nothing for me, but there's massive appeal in bargain basement stuff like this. Golf 4 Motions are in the same camp. For £3-4k, no way! But for £900!? Yeah!

Good shedding. Odd how the bloke didn’t just cash the tax in, effectively burning money as you’d have thought it would have been worth what you paid un-taxed.

I have owned a Toledo the same age as this (V reg mark 2) for 4 years. I have the Tdi version not the V5. It's the best car I've ever had. Supremely reliable, comfortable and there's not many about which I like. The V5's are ridiculously cheap. I would love a V5 but my Tdi has been so reliable I have no plans to change it yet. I hope you enjoy your new motor.

I'm in Ambergate too and have just done something very similar in the shape of a mk4 Golf V5 (170) for the pleasing sum of £300. It's been parked up for a while near Idridgehay but I've done a few 'recommissioning' jobs to it and it seems all good.

Just a quick MOT and I should be onto a winner with any luck :-)

Good job on the Toledo Jim, looks good for the money! Will look forward to seeing it in the flesh at a meet perhaps!
