Hi Yorkshire PHers!

Does anyone here live near / go past Redline Performance Cars? If so could you stop by tonight & have a quick peak at the silver R8 up for £48k and advise on condition!!??

Or if any of you have experience of this garage could you post or PM me?

Thanks!

Very nice looking car. As you'd expect it had been given the showroom treatment - blacked, wet-look tyres etc. There were, however, a couple of things to look out for: on the lower grille at the front some of the paintwork was slightly damaged by stone gouges. The stand-out one was about the size of the nail on your smallest finger, perhaps smaller. I would stress that this was surface damage, not any deeper than paintwork and was the only one of this scale. Other that that there was some light flecks from stones on the front wing and dark flecks of unknown cause on the rear wing (both driver's side). They weren't noticed on first pass, only on close inspection. Alloys looked good. Must say, that I was a bit distracted by the time I got down to this level, though. My boy was wanting to look at the Ferraris and Lamborghinis!

Didn't get the chance at an internal inspection.

Thanks so much, I'm investigating service history now! Really appreciate that, hopefully you enjoyed the opportunity to look at some fine machines too!

I tried to deal with these guys when they were in Pool in Wharfedale some years ago and got nowhere with them on a p/x - I assumed they were only interested in the bigger fish at the time.

they appear to have a much bigger operation now.

If its sports / prestige you're after in that area, again based on personal experience alexanders at boroughbridge have some stunning cars in at pres. and purelotus.co.uk in harrogate - very decent chap and mechanics and a decent stock list at pres too.

No probs! thumbup there were lots of other fantastic bits of kit to look gawp at!

As you're in the area; have you tried GC Motors on Ripon Road in Harrogate? They have lots of shiny things, too wink
Saying that: there's also a garage - the name escapes me - on the other side of the roundabout from GC, on the right as you head towards Knox / Killinghall. They seem to have some nice metal. They tend to have older stuff, though.

Thanks for the recommendations guys will check them out. Sadly when I called the dealerships that I was told had serviced the car, there was no record of it happening at one of them or anywhere nationally so the last time Audi have a record of a service on the car is Feb 2009! I politely emailed the chap to ask if he had an invoice to back up the stamp and so far have received no response so to be honest will not consider this place again frown sad cos I liked the car.

Don't always take that as read. A lot of main dealer network are very poor at record keeping, or you could have someone on the other end of the phone that had better things to do.

A big name main dealer serviced my Range Rover a few years ago yet had no record of it, until they we called them again to ask if they were sure "oh yes, hang on, here it is!".

I dealt with Rob Milner when I nearly bought a 996 GT3 there a couple of years ago - he was a pleasure to deal with and I found them very helpful. No problem having a test drive of the GT3 and even let me go out on my own in a 997 C4S as a comparison.

Have bought 2 cars from GC Motors. Great to deal with, but they work on small margins and big turnover, so if you demand a big discount, you'll probably not get anywhere.
I don't know anything about the other garage towards Killinghall and even if I did, I probably wouldn't mention that they tried to sell me a Tuscan which I later found out had been in a major crash and had £30K's worth of crash repair! Its possible they didn't know this.

Yep fair point... I did some digging & didn't proceed with the sale. PM me if you want details.

Hi I was also looking at that car and I am curious to know what you found out.
I've tried to pm you but on your profile it says recipient does not allow emails, so maybe I'm not doing it correctly.
Can you please try and email me?
Thanks

I've been trying to email you too but everytime I click on the option to email you, it just says email sent before I've even written anything. So sorry if you've received some blank emails from me.

It would be appreciated if you could also email me letting me know the reasons for not buying the car. I nearly bought a car from Redline racing a few years ago when they operated in Pool.

Sorry I only just saw these replies. The second service stamp was from a dealership that had closed down quite some time prior to the date in the service book. Took me about 20 mins & a few phone calls to find out. No acompanying invoice for the service & no record with Audi. When I asked about this, I got... no response. May well not have had an oil change for 3.5 years.
