Split rim Revolutions leaking
Discussion
Hi,
Have some Revolution split rims which were in need of a new set of tyres and thought i would get the wheels powdercoated whilst the tyres were off. My usual powder coating company did advise me beforehand that they could not guarantee the seal between the two sections of the alloy and might leak.
Went to my tyre fitter to get the tyres on and they had to stop midway through the job as the first two wheels were leaking air probably caused by the heat process during powdercoating.
Anybody have any experience of this and solutions, i have been recommended a company not far from me who are going to try to put a sealant on one of the wheels and put on one tyre to see if it works, other than that they advise that the only way of fixing is to remove all the bolts, seperate the two pieces of alloy and rebuild the wheel making a very expensive job,
Martyn?
