Why do people swear at you when they are in the wrong?
Discussion
Just wondered if everyone's experience is the same as mine.
On the rare occasion I have need to give someone a parp I've noticesd that I often get the finger in return. I don't understand this, if I get beeped and am in the wrong I put up a 'sorry' hand, not a finger.
There's a big roundabout near me and there's often numpties who block an exit even though they can see traffic coming round the roundabout, damn near hit someone yesterday doing this so after e stopping gave a parp and got a properly stupid amount of gestures in return, nearly got out the car to 'explain' the rules of the road.
Morons everywhere.

It's the Cancer that is eating the UK, nothing is ever your fault, there is ALWAYS someone else to blame... You cannot possibly be at fault, or can have made a mistake. Zero personal responsibly & the inability to simply say "sorry, I made a mistake"
Hence the huge amount of w
ker law firms chasing ambulances for morons who injure themselves drinking hot tea etc, and it is slowly filtering down to everyday life.

Its the cancer that is eating our globe. Positively everyone is an expert, and even real experts have a hard time acknowledging they are wrong. Not enough knowledge out here and too many hard headed experts who lay claim to all knowledge we do have.
I can't remember but I think Bertrand Russell once said something to the effect that man has a greater need to be right than he does to survive. That at least makes sense. b

You see it in everything these days. No-one will admit to their own errors or see the learning opportunity of a recognised mistake. I find it very sad. And maddening.

Is it really necessary, or indeed helpful to hoot at someone if they've done something wrong. Surely that could be interpreted as an act of aggression, in which case you can expect it to be returned. You're horn is to alert others of your presence, not point out others' mistakes. If we're all such 'driving gods' on PH then surely we can't expect others to be as competent as us, and so should be accommodating of their mistakes. On the rare occasion I have need to give someone a parp I've noticesd that I often get the finger in return. /devil's advocate
It seems to me that people just don't accept they have done something wrong.
A couple of instances I've had. I'm in the left lane of a dual carriageway (A3 southbound by Guildford Cathedral for those that know it) doing about 50. Just as we're passing the exit the driver in the right hand lane cuts across in front of me and takes the exit. I give a short blast on the horn as he almost takes my front bumper off and he gives me the coffee beans!! He was the bad driver but didn't accept it.
Recently, two lane exit off the M25 - driver in front doing about 40 starts to move to the left lane so I get ready to pass, he then swerves back to the right lane so I pass him on the left. I have to stop at the roundabout and the idiot comes up behind me flashing and hooting. He then passes me in the right lane on the dual carriageway blowing his horn. He then cuts up one of the cars in front to move to the left lane and turns left at the next roundabout. Again this idiot didn't realise he was in the wrong.
At times like these I just wish there was some police around to tell them what they've done wrong and give them a fixed penalty.

Not driving incidents but being sworn at when they are in the wrong and having it pointed out to them:
My workplace has only 4 customer parking bays, frequently we get cars that park across either all of the bays or across the entrance to them whilst popping into the fuel station shop for a paper or to leather of their car after it has been in the car wash.
When this is pointed out to them that these are in fact our parking bays for our customers, as the clear and obvious signage explains and parking across all of them blocks them to our customers we get all manner of abuse and swearing, my colleague even had one person tell him that he was being inconsiderate when asked to stop drying his car there and to move.
One tough guy who was parked across three spaces whilst doing something on his Blackberry, locked his car door before calling me a w@#ker and driving off.
Why can't they just say "oops, sorry I didn't realise".
