Guys,
I've had my current office PC set-up (266MhZ PII) for over 5 years now and I feel that an upgrade is well overdue. I am looking at getting an all singing & dancing laptop as the replacement, which will hopefully free up some desk space and also improve security by allowing me to take it home every night.
I also want to use the new Laptop at home for games, family internet use, DVD/CD burning and digi photo editing etc.
As a business tool I use my PC for running Sage A/C's & Payroll plus the usual MS Word/Works/Publisher and also Corel Draw/Photoshop.
What sort of spec. should I be looking for?
What are the 17" screens like?
Also, someone has mentioned that I could operate wireless and connect to my printer/scanner & internet via bluetooth, is this possible?
Finally, will it damage a laptops battery if I run it off the mains during the day in the office?
Thanks for any advice.

I've just ordered an IBM Thinkpad T42, which has a decent spec (15" screen, 1.7GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 60GB HDD, DVD Recorder) and is also quite light so not too hard to lug around.
I did a fair bit of research, and this came out as the best compromise between performance and portability. Hopefully it'll be here soon so I can give an idea of what it's like.
Dell was also recommended, but I wasn't too impressed with build quality, whereas the IBM is apparently top notch in this regard.
Not cheap though, but if you check out their TopSeller lists you can get a good spec for a reasonable price, and it also helps if you know someone that works there to get their staff discount.

For all those uses (basically everything a computer can do!) you are gonna need a top spec laptop, higher even than a PC that could do the equivalent as Laptops tend not to be as powerful as their desktop partners. Sony laptops are nice, but they are very intregrated with their software from what I hear, which you may prefer.
Look at Alienware for absolute top spec machines, but with top spec prices!
