Can you take even longer than me to change one front coilover? I must be the slowest home mechanic in the world - over 3 hours to do just one side. Given up on the idea of doing both this evening, the other one can wait.

How many cups of tea did that involve.

Did you jack the car up from the front (so both front wheels are off the ground) ? It makes withdrawing the old coilover easier as the anti roll bar will not try and compensate for the opposite side being compressed

Front of the car 12" off the ground. No tea involved. Just lots of "You cannot be serious!"

That's not fair, you're only counting undoing them, not doing them back up again.

Oh my boy, You will only receive the Silver Medal there I'm afraid.

When trying to remove one of my fronts, the steel insert in the shocker lug had rusted to the mounting bolt. Managed to turn it until it broke the rubber dampening but the inner collar would not budge.
Eventually had to Dremmel it out.

It took 5 days !

You beat me, just! The first one I did took nearly 2.5 hours, however the other side was swapped over in just over 20 minutes. I put it down to a combination of learning on the go, and hand built variance!

Similar here, if you count the week it took to go and get a 1mm cut off blade for the angle grinder mine was around 7 days. hehe

Lower mounting bolt rusted solid in the shock. Both ends snapped off, broke 3 drills in it trying to drill through and ended up slicing through the bolt with the cut off saw to get it out!
