Hi -

It'll be MS Office 2003 (there is no 2004)

Looks like a pretty good deal. I'd double the memory to 512mb to aid speed with a 600mhz processor.

James.

If the software is legit then that's about 600 squids worth of software alone.. I'd snap it up.

The software seems better/later than the hardware - would it struggle?

Yes, it would struggle, you certainly wouldn't be able to do much more than Word processing and surfing the net, in fact, I'm pretty sure those Office suites demand a higher spec CPU. (don't even try and use Photoshop! I have a 3.4GHz CPU, 1GB of fast memory and the latest ATI 256 MB GFX card, and some files still take time to load!)
I would buy it ONLY if the software is LEGIT, if not, that PCs about ready for the PC dinosaur graveyard

For normal office work and web surfing, it would be fine IMHO. You didn't mention monitor, but 90 for base unit is OK.

As already said, stick another 256MB ram in it if you want to do anything else. Don't expect it to be quick, just adequate.

Its probably worth the 90 squid, and you will probably get half of that back if you sell it after a year.

(Alternatively you could use the 90 squid and buy another Cav - lol)

It's higher speced than my current work box, and I am running XP with Office 2003 without problems.

I also have a few development tools and it only occaisionally chugs away.

£90 is a bargain. You could just turn it into an MP3 jukebox for that.

I sold a similarly specced machine to a fairly knowledgeable chap for £50 with no software and we were both happy, so I'd say that's a bargain.
