Does anyone know if the headlight units from a Phase II Clio 172 are just generic headlight units from the whole range or a special fit?

I'm importing one I just purchased to France and will have to change the headlights to register it here.

Thanks.

I can't imagine for a minute that RHD headlamps would not be a straight fit. It would not make economic sense to have different fittings.

They'll be xenons though so you'll need to get some from a another sport (unless its a 172 cup)

Not cheap either. I looked at Xenons on ebay as they discolour.

Thanks for the advice, so as I understand any Xenons for a Clio II should be a straight swap?

I can see they're not cheap but work are paying and they're alot easier to find than LHD Rover 75 headlights!

On the 172mk1 headlights there is a slider switch hidden on the back of the headlight units that switches from LHD to RHD and vice versa, might be worth taking them off and having a look.

Thanks, I'd imagine that the slider would only flatten the beam at not switch it to LHD enough for it to pass a French MOT.

Wouldn't let the discoloured headlamps put you off buying a pair. Full correction can be done with some 2000 grade or higher wet and dry then scratch remover and polish, ideally with a proper rotary polisher.

Alternatively you can spend an hour or two with a bottle of T-cut, a bottle of Meg. Scratch X and a cheap car polisher and achieve probably 95% correction without attacking the car with sandpaper at all, as I opted to do!
