I don't think these cars get talked about enough. They're in the same price bracket[ish], so which would you have?

Be good to hear from people who have owned/driven both smile

Monaro. Running costs of a 147 seem to be frightening, a Monaro, bar the fuel consumption, seems to be pretty much problem free. Plus it's a v8 and makes a far better noise.

Gotta love it when a V8 makes sense smile

A V8 always makes sense, you just have to come up with reasons why it makes sense hehe

confused

Every aspect of the 147 has a question mark hanging over it - except the noise.
V8s sound wonderful, but that old Alfa V6 really is spine tingling.

It does sound good, but V8 > V6.

Alfa V6's sound good. A V8 sounds better.

Methinks that cohort is going to be pretty small.

RWD V FWD
V8 V V6
Tail out V Torque steer

Do you really need to think about it ?

Only problem with the Monaro is it's size / weight, it's definitely a GT car.

Wouldn't a 156GTA be a more appropriate comparison, simply more comparable body size / shape?

I've got a GTV V6 and a Monaro VXR, so a bit outside but close. Both have been significantly 'loudened'.

I've always been a V8 man, but the noise the Alfa makes is stunning.

I like the feeling of riding on a wave of thunder you get from the Monaro, but the genuinely hair raising wail from the Alfa appeals in a completely different way.

As mentioned earlier, the two cars couldn't be more different, but in that respect, they complement each other quite nicely.

If I could only have one, it'd be the Monaro, but the GTV really surprised me with how fun it feels to drive.

Also, I'd like some sort of Monaro silhouette PH t-shirt, they've covered all of the other recurring PH cars...

Not really two cars I'd consider to compare, apart form cost you'd never consider buying one or the other..
