Ok so my car is advertised for sale on PH. I have had a person in Hong Kong by the name of Yao Nyustern contact me through email. It seems to be the usual 'I'll pay you and sort out the shipping' type of affair, however has offered to pay me cash-in-hand (not sure how this would work - will investigate further).

Now obviously cash-in-hand would be very nice, but it would also mean giving out my address, which is worrysome.

So over to the PH community. Does anyone have any experience of selling to HK, current scamming techniques, or indeed a mysterious cash buyer called Yao Nyustern?

What sort of car is it?If it is something a bit unusual then it might be genuine. If its just an average car that can be bought anywhere then it is unlikely someone is going to go to all that trouble to buy it and is therefore probably some kind of scam.

BMW E46 330i Sport Saloon - not exactly the rarest of rarities.

Meet at a motorway service station or something, he'll get your address through the log book anyway.

Id ignore that one.No one is going to travel halfway across the globe with a handfull of cash for an old beemer are they.....unless they are unobtainable over there for some reason.
I did actually remember a thread about a chap from singapore who wanted to buy a E46 M3 from here because they cost an absolute fortune over there or something along those lines.Could be a similar situation in hong kong...
