Have any of you lot tried FireFoods infinity and beyond chilli sauce?

I'm a confirmed wuss when it comes to spicy food - my limit is pretty much a hot Nandos, but this stuff must surely be like eating pure pain?!?

I can assure you it's a topic which is often discussed. http://www.firefoods.co.uk/product/infinity-and-be...

However, any excuse to post the link to the (PHer made and from that site) 'World's Hottest Curry' video:

Not tried it and have no desire to despite liking pretty hot stuff.
There's a point where it's just heat for the sake of it and nothing is added to the dish.
When you have a sauce called "Insanity and Beyond" I think you can be fairly sure that it's not being sold with the finest of flavours being it's strong point. Go for any of the ridiculously hot stuff and it's more for causing pain to your friends and yourself than anything else. With that said, I've got a few bottles of the properly hot stuff at home - I ruined a bowl of pasta with one a few weeks back, and I only used a single table spoon, made it so hot I could barely finish it. However, when used very conservatively, they can be used to warm a dish up, where chilli is not intended as one of the main flavours.
I think a lot of these things are marketed at strange types who enjoy rectal punishment and that sort of thing. The blokes on a shift opposite to me had bottles of chilli sauce at work a few weeks ago and were swigging it from the bottle or covering scotch bonnet chillies in the sauces and eating them, starting with Encona and Nando sauces and going onto some lurid coloured 'naga' and 'bhut jolokia' concoctions that looked like they could melt concrete. The next day, bizarrely, they all looked worse for wear and were bragging about who had had the sloppiest s
t or whose arse had hurt the most! A bizarre masochistic cult indeed.
I try to avoid that nonsense where I can. I remember buying a chilli pack from Booths in Windermere whilst in holiday a few years ago. There were scotch bonnets in the pack and I got one out of the pack, thinking it looked like a juicy little tomato. I threw the whole thing in my mouth and bit down to discover something crisp and sweet, like a yellow pepper. A few seconds later, it felt like my head was being boiled!

I ended up dropping in to this for a few hours on Monday. Totally unplanned, was going that way on a drive, and saw a sign for it. Turned around and headed that way, just in time for lunch. Just in time as I was starving!Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
