Another Flipping Virus

Internet connection (on another PC) cut out & on trying to reconnect I just get something along the lines of ' cannot connect, modem may be in use , not installed correctly etc etc'.

Any Ideas?

Reboot, it may not be a virus just shite device handling within Windows.

Thanks but I've tried that, & assorted other ideas. all to no avail so far.

I'm almost reduced to taking it to the local PC butcher. I'll try a bigger hammer first tho'.

Why does everyone assume that everything that goes wrong is a virus??

Sounds like your modem driver is shagged at best. Should be no more than a couple of hours labout at your local PC worldalike.

Maybe have a poke around in Device Manager and see if you can spot any problems?

I've had a look in the Device Manager - nothing obvious.

How does a modem driver get shagged on its own?
