There's an earth lead on the drivers side under the steering column on my S3C - goes to the chassis but can't remember where it comes from - might be engine.
Or perhaps, like mine, yours has both mentioned above....
First from the diagonal chassis tube under steering UJ directly to off side of engine block (towards the front). Second is hidden above the gearbox mounting bracket.
