Yes - was considering getting inspection done.
I understand a lot prefer manuals (there is another thread running at the moment on this very topic). But for the speed of the turbo I think the tip suits it well, just more relaxed but transformed when you want it to be. And I have driven a turbo tip before, they really are great - the manual got a bit tedious for me! Maybe I am just lazy!

I will also go through the service book as you advise. Nobody know the car then? Any other advice before I go and do something crazy!!!?

I bought my 996TT from RSJ and had a good experience with them. I had a PPI done by Peter Morgan which cost a few hundred quid but was well worth it as he pointed out several things I would not have noticed even having read countless buying guides. RSJ rectified these points without quibble, as they did with any other (very small) things that came up in the following few months of warranty.

RSJ also gave me a good part-ex price for my old car which took the sting out of the fact that they hardly discounted their price at all smile I believe they now offer a different warranty on new purchases but haven't been through their website for a while.

Good luck biggrin

RSJ Sold me a turbo about 7 years ago, good deal, good service, wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again.

Only disappointment was that Joel failed to talk me into the guards red GT2CS he had parked next to it instead of the turbo wink

Yep looks a nice car. Ticks all the boxes. And as said RSJ great to deal with. Shouldn't have a problem with the car! Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

I was pleased I had an inspection (also by Peter Morgan) when I bought my 996 C4S

No I bought from Portiacraft. The PM report was very thorough and came with lots of pictures plus readings on over-revs etc. I was able to negotiate quite a good list of things to be done prior to purchase (Portiacraft were very fair IMHO) including new AC condensors and new rear-tyres plus alot of little things which would have added up to quite a bit if I'd had them done after purchase.
