Villa Victoria, Nice. Lovely, small, well priced French hotel, breakfast in the garden and get the train into Monaco. Just remember to buy your train ticket the night before and not on the day. Or real budget is the Ibis in Nice. Right next to the station but it does have a pool and only 10-15 minutes walk to the old town or short hop on the tram which stops next to the station. Otherwise think about the Columbus. The Fairmont is good but pricey during GP

I drove down a few weeks ago and stayed at the Fairmomt.
Epic drive, valet parking and you can look down onto the chicane from the rooftop pool.
Every time I watch the race on TV, I always wonder why most of the balconies there are empty during the race. I originally thought it was apartments and wondered what kind of people would have an apartment there and yet not be using the balcony on probably the best day to have that property. Since I found out it was a hotel and read the cost of accomodation there on race weekend, I understood a little better, but I don't imagine it's close to being the most expensive hotel there (based on no research, of course).

Oh, I'm more confused now. The empty balconies I referred to are those in the far right of your lower photo - is that not the Fairmont, or another bit of it?

I drove down for this year's race and stayed in Sofia Antipolis and got the train in each day. Bit of a boring place to stay but good value and secure parking.

I took my motorbike to Monaco this year. I can't recommend any hotels, beacause I took my tent. However, if you can, do try to go via the N85 Route Napoleon which goes from Grenoble to Nice and is definately the best driving road Ive ever been on. (Plenty of tunnels for some 3rd gear TVR action too!!)

Just stumbled on this topic but wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I'm looking for the best way to get from Nice to Monaco on GP day in 2013.

Problem is, I'm disabled. Cerebral Palsy means I cant walk far or stand up for too long (especially if its hot!).

From what I've been reading, trains will be horrific, and lucky to get a seat (Desperate for a seat!), but if we do decide to take the train, can anyone tell me how far it is to walk from the station in Monaco to tribune K?

What other options are there? We can drive but car parks seem far away and traffic will be horrific.

Assuming I will struggle for a seat on the bus and again will be stuck in traffic?

I recommend to anyone able bodied to only get the cheapest tickets available. Spent 2 gp's on the hill and the view if you climb up directly under the camera man at the base of the palace wall is out of this world. Best place on the planet to veiw an f1 car at work! The memories of singing the national anthem when button won in front of all the Spanish and French is one that I will never forget. Every race that dAy was won by a British driver so I had learnt the words when it came to button. If you like a drink I recommend taking wine as lager has you going to the loo to much. The second time I went I did not enjoy it that much. It is some thing you only do once in my eyes. Monton is like a ghost town with only one bar Apart from the casino.
You will love it and the cars Outside the casino on race night!

Traffic will be terrible so best avoided.

The train is the best option but it is quite steep from the station (but there is a lift) - once down to sea level it isn't far really. Leave yourself plenty of time and stop and rest - the view's good!

This year I booked the car parking along with the tickets from the Monaco GP website. Parking was at the railway station.
Those lovely French train drivers went on strike, so I felt quite smug driving back to the hotel in Menton. Traffic is fine, but you MUST leave early for the circuit. We arrived at 7am on race day, driving straight in with no queues, and had breakfast in a cafe.

Monaco is very hilly, you have to walk to get anywhere, lots of closed roads. It would be very difficult for someone who has problems walking.

May have already been stated but the Helicopter from Nice airport. About £50 pp and they will take you to any destination in Monaco upon arrival, inclusive, by Merc/Minivan
7 minute flight over the see with stunning scenery
