starter and desert ideas.

Im making Teriyaki pork fillet with thai rice as the main.
Teriyaki is:
5 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
then is going to be used as pouring sauce after cooking on the rice and is non negotiable.
Need something to go with it as starter and desert that is not fiddly, not deep fried and can be prepared before hand.

I'm trying this tonight. Could fit the bill for pudding.
