Hi all,

I have a 2007 (07) 2.0 TDCI Ghia estate and the car was given to me by my grandma, the car is in REALLY good condition and with only 23K on the clock it has had an easy life!! However.....

I seem to have a problem sometimes with starting the car, this seems to happen when the weather is hot. When i try to start the car all the lights go off and i have to unplug the battery and wait awhile before i can start the car, sometimes i have to repeat this a few times.

From a little research i am thinking it is either the ECU or the fusebox which seems to cropup on my searches.

Is anyone here familiar with this sort of problem?

Thanks

Zad

Are all the lights off even when you aren't cranking the engine? I'm wondering if the battery is faulty or there is a bad earth.

It might be worth getting the fault codes read out of the ECU.

Thanks for the reply, I have swapped the battery with a new one I had in my other focus and it's the same.

I can unlock the car fine but there is NO LIGHTS on the dash and when I put the key in and try to crank the car there is nothing at all.

There are also no ecu fault codes !!!

That's a bit of a bugger! Have you checked the condition of all the fuse and relay contacts? An oxidised fuse connection could give those symptoms.

A very quick Google search came up with this forum http://www.talkford.com/topic/113753-hot-start-pro...
It relates to the Mondeo TDCi but is essentially the same problem. May be of some use to you?
