Road bike pedals - advice needed...

Hi,

I've decided to move out of the 19th century and replace my rat-traps with something a little more modern! I've just got hold of a pair of Gaerne shoes which will accommodate Shimano and Look cleats, so basically I'm after recommendations on pedals and cleats. I'm not a competitive cyclist so not looking for anything out of this world; just something decent value for money in the £50-£80 range.

Any suggestions gratefully received...

Admittedly I don't know a lot of what's out there but the reviews and price were decent enough to me and I'm suitably happy with them.

Covered around 600 miles with no issues. Although I find my right leg can be a bit difficult to clip after pulling away from a junction but it's only cos it spins upside down when I unclip. Which probably means I've not fitted it right.

No need to spend too much for a first set; I have used the Shimano R540 pedals on all my road bikes and they are great. Twenty-odd quid on wiggle I believe.

Shimano Ultegra 6700s: £70 from Merlin and will last you years. Others are lighter and more bling, but the difference is tiny. The quality of the Shimanos however is light years ahead of anything else.
