Mk2.5 Fuel Filler Release
Discussion
Not sure if this has happened to anyone else? Car is an '03 1.8 Sport.
Few weeks ago I pulled the filler cap release lever and heard a ger-donk noise
Lifted the filler cover and the bracket that engages with the release button had come off. The screw that holds it to the filler had sheared. Fortunately all the bits were still there.
Finally got around to looking at it. Wasn't too hard a fix.
Remove the actual screw on filler cap (ease the clips over the rim). Undo the 3 bolts (8mm socket) holding the chrome cover on. Drilled out the remains of the screw and replaced with a new M5 screw.
Much better than spending £70+ on a new filler cover
