Setting up a photobooth / camera control software

Hi,

Getting married in October and would be nice for people to be able to sign a guestbook and put a picture in too (reception is fancy dress). Thinking of setting up a photobooth type thing so people can press a button on a screen and then have the pc print it.

Ive owned a few Olympus DSLRs over the years and all have shipped with software that allows you to control the camera through a PC. It gives you a live view of what the camera is seeing on the screen and you can take photos and adjust settings etc.

I dont have an olympus DSLR anymore so just wondering if there is any software out there that supports a range of cameras that can do the same thing? We already have a Panasonic Lumix camera but google doesnt seem to bring up anything of interest.

Maybe worth me buying a cheap second had E-500 or something and just using the Olympus software?

Why not just rent a photobooth for the occasion? One of my friends did that for his wedding. It printed out 2 copies of the pictures, one for their album and one to take home. Not got a clue on cost or who they used though, but I am sure Google will throw something up.

yeah they cost arond £500 for the night. Not really an option.

Do you or someone you know have an iMac. They have a photobooth application. Maybe you could borrow one.

Have found some stuff online actually with regards to using a webcam to do it with free software. Need to actually try it though. The software take the pics and saves them into a folder. I could then get silent print to grab them automatically and print them onto an a6 sheet.

Otherwise, there are fully functional free trials of other software that work with certain dslrs which may be another option, again, need to see what works.
