Are there any common solutions for a window that is stuck down?

When you open the door the window for the last few openings has gone all the way down instead of just an inch or so.

Now it is stuck down. I can hear the motor engage on the down button and here a contact on the up button.

DonkeyApple, is there a rattle from the door? My driver's side window became jammed down, and when I removed the door panel I found that a bolt on part of the frame had partially wound itself out. A bit of swearing, scraped knuckles and a new found knowledge of how double jointed my right wrist actually was (!!) and it was sorted. Happened again, and this time I used some loctite - which obviously I should have thought about the first time...

Of course, yours might be a different issue.....

Similar issue on my old Cerbie, I disconnected the battery for an hour or so, reconnected it and all was fine. Don't know if it would work in your case though from the sounds of it.

Thanks.

It has gone back up after being left for a while, like the last time it happened but because the window goes down all the way when the door is opened I think it might be an electrical issue.

Does mean I daren't open the door now which will make getting a wife and two kids in quite entertaining.

disconnect the door/window ecu from its electrical input for a few secs so it's powered off... then reconnect and it should have reset itself. Also check battery condition - it is fully charged and in good health ? Mine dis strange things when battery was poorly.

Took 5 hours to sort a short term bodge solution.

2+ hours to drive back to London in bloody awful conditions (several episodes of aquaplaning) and park in garage. Then back in a BMW.

So much for the bank holiday with the Tiv. frown

But the drive back was exhilarating. Played with the traction control a bit and learnt more about that. Learnt that the car handles the truck ruts in the inner lane of motorways better than my previous Tivs. Managed to listen to Led Zeplin there and back (never get the chance to listen to my music these days as always transporting people). Discovered a new route cross country to the house. Once home everyone was asleep so got to watch what I wanted on the TV (those new TVR racing vids) and tuck into a bottle of very good wine.

So, all in, what started out as a royal PITA minor Tiv issues has actually led to the highlight of the weekend, a proper old time driving session. smile
