Driving around the Telford town center in a Capri 2.8i, overtaking a Bus smiling at a couple of young ladies on it, entering the righthand bend by Cascades (it was a one way ring road then) i 180'd the car, narrowly missing the bus, needless to say i didnt pull, could write a book about 2.8i capri misshaps.

Can see there's a few t**ts on here.

Anyone on here track-racing a Capri or Lotus Cortina at the moment. Would be interested in following progress, see any pics. Possibly compiling book on circuit-racing 60s - 80s using previously unseen pics.

Very early 70's - early Monaco red Mk3 Zephyr 6. Took off all shiny trim like font and rear bumpers, put 7" 'weld-up' steels with the largest available tyres then (185 section 13" tyres) - sourced a Raymond Mayes 12 port ally head, carbs & manifolds, fitted twin Zodiac exhausts with mini cooper silencers. Regular head gasket changes. Significantly quicker than stock Zephyr - highlight was a drag away from Ley Street, Ilford traffic lights against a then new'ish' 4.2 XJ6 - didn't beat him, neck 'n' neck up to Gants Hill roundabout - those were the days!

In the day of Mini coopers, one of our mates worked at Lotus in Cheshunt. bought himself an Elan chassis with engine, suitably 'fettled' and put it under a 1954 Ford popular body.
Then used to pull up alongside said minis at lights ,bash on the roof, and make a small 'bet', reckons he paid of what it cost him in 6 months in winnings
