Has anyone done it - and what did they think?

Nobody has done it.

Imagine the conversation - sorry, my Spyder is worth how much? the price to change is £70k and my new car will be no quicker? And be much less rare and good looking? What about the handling and the steering? Oh. It's ok, I'll hang on to it for a while.

Only joking, I'd have one if I had deeper pockets and could keep the Spyder!

Backwards step in many ways.

As above, only one word, why? Unless you wanted to burn over 70k for no good reason. Buy a 3 series as a second car and save yourself 50k, after all the 991 feels a lot like a bimmer ;-)

I always think price to change does not get you much in real life.

the Spyders such a good car at 30k trade in to then pay another 65k to get a 991 seems crazy.

now you can get Bucket seats, PSE and the passive suspension kit for the new boxster it's still 30k to change into a car which is slower in a drag race and prob don't feel as good.

Spyder is a hard car to let go of if you like driving and how ever good the new one is it's not worth 30k to me to buy one.

981 looks good and I'm sure there are key improvements, but would they be worth 30k (cost to change) in real terms?

The Spyder looks special, is a lot rarer and I reckon a better 'drivers' car. It is still lighter and more powerful than the new model.
