Valentine 1 ......great for radar but nothing will beat a laser ( only a jammer ) only way the Valentine will save you from a laser
is if it picks up signals from the car in front of which is been targeted.
So if your the only car on the road doing 100 mph & the laser alert goes off your only chance is to brake like a maniac very quickly,
before a second reading is taken.
This makes for very nervous driving & the chance of causing an accident if any one is behind you!
If your behind the car doing 100mph the signal will bounce of his car and warn you which should give you enough time to slow down.

Most overhead gantry cameras are easy to detect and the fixed but all the mobile stuff is laser.

I can't get on with them. They just annoy me with their incessant beeping.

I keep my eyes open.

Best way. Detectors lull you into a false sense of security. I hate sat nav too. Plan your route before hand with a map then read the road signs...

The best way to beat road speed cameras is to get a track car, you just float about then and read the speed signs, it's only when you start going to race tracks that you realise how slow and foolish it is trying to go quickly on the road with oncoming traffic, crossroads, juntions etc... you think you're going quick, but in reality your'e only kidding yourself, you cant get anywhere near the cars limits on the road, turning into Copse at 95mph, into maggots/beckets at 125mph is however a different matter altogether, and far more rewarding.. just slow down a bit chap..!

Panic braking? More dangerous for everyone than accepting it.

Laser Speedmeter takes 0.3 sec to take a reading and is certified accurate up to 999 metres. (Although accurate to well over 1.5 km) No 'second reading' required.

If you are alone and it goes off it is telling you that you have been done. End of Story.

If in a line of traffic you MAY get lucky and it MIGHT pick up some scatter from a targetted car in front.

I hear what people say about laser, but my v1 has saved me 2 tickets, as on both occasions the officer took a second reading which was considerably lower than his first. Both cases I was targeted over 1km from the trap (first reading). I know this as my road angel warns from 1km and the laser alert went off 5-10secs before the 1km warning.

It's also failed to protect me on at least one occasion.

Managed to keep my licence at a low number of points. Without it I would have been nearer to a ban.

Before all the speed nannies start, I spend 800plus hours behind the wheel a year in this country alone, and a couple of hundred more in europe. Only ever had a ticket in 60 limits or higher. Never had one in town, because I don't speed in town. On an open motorway I drive at the speed of the traffic which is usually travelling at 15-20% over the posted limit.
