My wife just got back from Tesco, complaining that she had to use a normal parking bay.

She has a replacement hip, and nerve damage, so really needs a disabled space if available.

Now we know this isn't always possible, and some times she has to use a normal bay, but what annoyed her today was a Tesco delivery van parked like this.

Is it worth complaining to Tesco head office about this?

When she complained in store, they just replied that the driver would only be 10 minutes.

Yes, probably worth complaining. I should think they would go completely apest, especially with a picture like that. He could have parked the van in one of the spaces and it would have been better.

Based on the stores reply I'd belligerently complain to head office (na daube the local rag) but it'd depend on my mood at the time.

Had they apologised appropriately there and then, I'd have let it go

What will complaining achieve?

There could be a multitude of reasons why the van was there - and they're too long / wide to stick in a normal space.

The most likely explanation was that he had to collect something and really would only be 10 minutes at the most.

Yes, it was a little inconvenient - but why does everything have to lead to a complaint these days?

Really? You think someone 'popping in' for 10 minutes is ok to block TWO disabled spaces?

Why anyone would want to shop in Tesco to begin with is beyond me!

Silly boy.

Why use the customer carpark rather than the loading bays?

Do you really think it's worth making a complaint to head office, and possibly seeing the driver get a load of hassle for it?

People are all too ready to complain these days - and mostly over little trivialities that don't really matter.

Whilst it's not really right of the driver to do that, he probably saw some empty spaces and ditched the van whilst he ran in for something he'd forgotten / needed to nip to the toilet or something similar.

It is as much a problem with customer services as with the driver.

Why didn't the customer services person say one little word to my wife, a simple "sorry" would have gone a long way, rather than say, "it's ok he'll only be 10 minutes".

Maybe he was trying to save the spaces for 'disabled' people smile

You park in disabled spaces because you're "just nipping in for a mo" don't you?

Seriously, you think it's ok since it was only going to take a few minutes? What if your old dear had a hip replacement, and had to walk half way across the carpark with pushing her trolly, just because some inconsiderate tt thought "it's ok, I'll only nip in for a moment"?

I would kick up a huge fuss over this, more so because they said that to her in store! I would have kicked off in store!

I'd let the store manager know about it. He'll be livid enough to find out who parked it there, and who told her the driver would only be ten minutes, and will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Is it me or is plainly obvious that the OP should just go and complain to the general store manager. FFS

If I come and park across your drive for 10 minutes when you need to get out to go to work will that be ok?

It's only 10 minutes after all.

Helmet.

If people don't complain then bellends like that think what they have done is ok, it doesn't matter what the reason is, there is no excuse for blocking two disabled spaces in a tesco store with a tesco van, it wouldn't be quite so bad if it was just a plain van but it is a van owned by the store!
