TVR Silverstone - another happy visitor

Had nothing on today so thought i'd pop over to Silverstone to buy a trackday helmet. Had very good service from Grand Prix Racewear then went round to TVR Silverstone for a nosey.
Ended up staying for nearly three hours!
Had arranged to meet BCA there and have a walk around. Sat in a couple of T350s and a Chimaera. Surprised how i didn't fit in the Chimaera well, but felt very at home in the T350 and Tamora... thats gonna cost me
Then mentioned the gathering over the weekend to the saleman and he said "oh, GCerbera is on his way now". Ah, stick around then.
Met Graham and his wife and just chatting cars for a bit. Then Ben saw a Griff owner and found out he was DustyC!
Talk about a small world, meeting two other Pistonheads that i've spoken to a lot on the forums and via email.
The service from TVR Silverstone was top notch, and i'm not even a customer... yet. Really impressive set up. Lovely new workshop.
Most impressive thing was Steve Preest (salesman) went out to warm up the T350. The following quote is his words not mine...
This coming from a TVR salesman proves just how committed to the cars they are. Really recommended and only a 15min drive from my mum's house.

But that was as a passenger. I found the air vent to the right of the steering wheel hit my leg, as did the steering adjustment on the left. The steering adjustment could be changed with a smaller Leven part i guess, but the air vent's still there...
Didn't have that problem on the Griff.
The obvious solution... try more Chims!
I bought a Tuscan from Silverstone, but one thing firm in my mind was that it would ONLY be looked after by TVR Power in Coventry (some 85-odd miles from me).
Silverstone aren't even my nearest main dealer, but the Tuscan will be going back there for it's first/next service.
I can however testify that Steve does however have very dubious musical tastes having left one of his CD's in my Tuscan...perhaps the profit he made out of me (no issue with that) will give him the chance to buy some decent CD's!!!

It was indeed a very nice operation they have there. Its always nice when these specialists give someone like me (scruffy, young, full of questions) the time of day. Obviously they believe quite rightly that im only a few years off TVR-ownership and therefore a potential future customer. They were extremely welcoming and willing to let us sit in cars/look around and generally chat about all things TVR.
Have to say, as far as my experience with many car dealers - no matter what the marque - Silverstone made quite an effort to make sure that they looked after thier cars as well as thier customers. It was refreshing to see them warm up the cars before test drives (something even mercedes dealers neglect to do on my bloody car!!) It may sound ridiculous, but its a rarity in the motor trade to treat cars with care IMHO.
Very impressed, when im in the market for a TVR, they are one of the first people I will deal with on the matter.
Was nice to put a face to the name GCerb, your wife(?)s face said it all after a testdrive in the T!! With a bit of luck you'll find a solution to the parking problem and become another two-tvr family on Pistonheads. Shame you didnt bring the family car along actually...
Dusty C - absolutely gutted I hadnt worked out it was your griff following me into silverstone. Somehow managed to miss what sounded like a fantastic amount of cars hooning around silverstone and would have liked to have tried blagging a passenger ride or two in your griff. I think I may have finally turned Mr Rixon to the Darkside, suddenly all his previous porsche ambitions seem to be more focused on another type of six cylinder adrenalin-creators. Sorry about the last minute CRX chat, just popped into my head as you were about to drive off!! Tempted, possibly the next BCA-mobile.
Rico - as always, a pleasure - nice to get a little side by side comparison done too. Hmm, not too much in it, after the remap it'll be very different...
Also managed to cure the slight vibration my car was suffering from thanks to that roundabout - took a quarter turn of opposite lock to bring it back into line. Then to my amazement it felt fine as it came back off the roundabout, bizarre - perhaps down to a bit of dodgy tyre wear or something?? I honestly dont know what im going to get to replace that car, somehow nothing quite manages to be such an all rounder. Its quite boringly reliable though, perhaps something a bit more problematic would make sense next!?! oh and quicker too.

I was originally bringing the Cerb along and was to meet my wife there, but she
wanted to show off the convertable in the hope I'd buy it for her (probably will, very good price)
Glad to hear your Dad's car is flying again, good luck at Uni and hope to
see you both somewhere soon.

Whilst waiting for you to finish talking to the salesman by the T350 I was un-track preparing my Griff (sticking the front plate back on!). By the time I was done you were inside looking at expensive pieces of paper. I thought it rude to interupt.

1000Kg and 160 BHP from a normally aspirated 1.6 is bloody good fun. I'd have another one.
I could tell you a few things to look out for (and a few good DIY mods too. Honda made it nice and easy

Yep great bunch. I still have their 450 chim "Courtesy car" as my 400 is rapidly becomming a pain in the arse. I have offered the 450 back as iam fully aware it is a px and they have a lot of money tied up in it and want to sell it. They have told me to keep it for a bit longer, until they can sort me out with another car. When have you ever heard of that from a dealer?
If you are in the market for a 450 2000 chim in black with full Leven kit only 27k on the clock it should be back with them and preped by next week, I dont know the price but I guess it will be around the £23k mark

When you arrived, I actually thought it was my brother following me in his Griff!
Why is it those bits of paper are so expensive? Still you get a rather nice free gift
further down line...

That's my old car! Steve reckoned it would be getting a sticker price of £22995 once it had a good clean and a front end respray.
In fact, if you could give it back by the weekend, the Tuscan is going back to Silverstone for a few odds and ends to be sorted (agreed when I bought it) and it would be quite nice to get the old one back for a few days!!!
