Another "What Is This?" thread - I feel I should know

At Magor services just west of the Severn bridge on Saturday morning, I was just arriving, he was just leaving. Should I try and catch him or take a picture?



Some of the detailing is very fine work and it has six stud wheels.

I posted it on the Supercars and Rarities thread but no one has firmly identified it. Some sort of Frazer Nash or Noddy's car were two suggestions. The lines are too exaggerated for a Frazer Nash imo.

My first thought was Jowett Jupiter, but the details are all wrong. Then I felt it might be one of the Grimsby Lloyds, but again I feel the dimensions are incorrect.

It looks late-40s in style, with the suicide doors, art-deco swage lines, and the Easy-Clean wheels. The wheelbase seems short, and it could be something like one of the Czech Aero cars. The Healey suggestion is really good, but it does look a bit small to me.

Not a Healey Elliott as it doesn't have a roof, not a Healey becasue of 6 stud wheels amongst other things. Beyond that I have no idea.

I still reckon Healey of some sort. The grille looks about right (what you can see of it), the lights' position in the wing is about right too, the wing lines look similar but it's too short for a Westland.

I wondered if it was a rebodied humdrum saloon, like a Standard 8hp or similar. The front and back wheels aren't the same, by the way.

There is a front wheel under the bonnet?? Its that bonnet that gets me? all the cars mentioned and the ones I thought of do not have a bonnet and grill all in one hinging by the screen??

The bonnet badge is interesting. I think it's wings in a deep V.

It is not a Healey, they all had 5 stud wheels and didn't have that style of wheel.
