One for the common man - road rage
Discussion
Was travelling North A1 on Friday tea time when I met Mr Ar5E.
Inside lane clear and 200 yd queue in outside lane.
So,in the EBF, I and my 4 yr old son make slow and safe progress in the inside lane, when Mr A swerves out of the outside lane into the inside lane.
He remains calm as do I
The gap in the outside lane is now closing (as it does for some reason :bangshead: )
Mr A then swerves back into his gap, for fear of loosing a place.
I continue but he's having none of it
Swerves back into the inside lane - its hard work this protecting two lanes!
This time tough he brake tests me - the gesticulations start from him.
FCKU OFF - WANKRE etc - now my lad knows these rude signs - great
I brake and pull back - he continues to gesticulate
When he eventually pulls back into the outside lane I get inside him and gesticulate to pull over into the parking place that's coming up.
Does he - no - good job cos I swear there was an arrest for sec4a POA coming up - I was livid (like gerald)
I telephoned his boss this morning - (Number traced officially through PNC) He was most interested - writtten warning re conduct in company vehicle
Moral of story - not every one you PI55 off is powerless
Lesson learnt? Who knows - only he

Try not to be silly your road rage is no different than anyone elses and as for a written warning I would love to be at the tribuneral on that one. Friday tea time eh? What business of his bosses is that? I wonder if your boss would be interested in the corrupt use to which you have put your power?

Nothing corrupt in what Gemini did. A police officer is 'on duty' and a 'professional witness' all the time. If the actions on that day warranted attention, Gemini could have reported the driver and had the local plod go round to interview him.
Ive mentioned in another thread recently, a colleague of mine did the same thing and the scummy driver got mega points and fine at court.
Informing the company, which owned the vehicle, is the correct course of action. Gemini had a duty of care to the company regarding the driving manner of the tosser in question. It must be said also, that Gemini had a 'duty of care' to the tosser driver. If by reporting him to the company means the driver behaves in future then we all benefit dont we.
The PNC record for Geminis check would have been stored forever, should anyone need to look and see exactly why the check was made and no doubt Gemini would have made reference to the incident in his police pocket book when next on duty.
Job well done.
once more..

Nice one Gemini. A question though - if you were in the same position as non-BiB what would / could you do?
The reason I ask is that I witnessed a tw*t causing chaos on the M6 some years ago. He was weaving around three lanes of heavy but flowing (50 mph) traffic causing panic braking and locked wheels in his wake. It's the only time I've ever considered calling Plod but didn't for two reasons - firstly who do I call, and secondly what could they do about it. Why should they believe me? I could just hold a grudge against a neighbour who's bonfire has left hot ash on my car :-)

Company vehicle - on company use!
When does keeping the road safe become corrupt?
Maybe Ive miss judged you?
Have no prob with u keeping the road safe mate and I am sure the guy was a twat, but as the taxman will tell you, to and from work is not company business. If the vehicle is supplied as an unconditional perk then a written warning will not stick and in that case its your word against his. In an industrial tribuneral thats liar liar pants on fire and the fact your a cop will probably go against you and the company. Thats just the way it is in Blairs Britain. Not saying its right but its fact.
What were you doing undertaking anyway would be my first question?
Will BiB do stuff about these sort of numpties if you ring them up ? Should you ring 999 or what ?
I recall once seeing an old git doing about 35 mph in the outside lane of the M1 between Northampton and Rugby (which is a racetrack at the best of times) hunched over his wheel in absolute terror. It was causing total chaos.

Don't agree.
A company vehicle may be a perk to get to or from work, but if it's being misused, then the employee can be guilty of misconduct - depends on his conditions of contract. If one of our employees was driving like an arse, he would be told, in no uncertain terms, to behave - if he loses his licence, he loses his job. We have one employee who we don't allow to drive company vehicles for a similar reason.
Second, highway code says you can overtake on the left if you are passing a queue in the right hand lane(s). That's exactly the situation as described.

Don't count on anything getting done. One of the blokes where I work drives like an utter tosser - to the point where I would refuse to get in a car with him. We were often getting people phoning in complaining about his driving. So what do they do - change his logo'd up van for a car with no stickers/logo.
Lugs
The only way to ensure thatthere is evidence to hang such a person is to get some reg numbres of cars whose drivers may have also witnessed the events.
Then ring 999 if its such a danger.
There is enough hastle on our roads without someone adding to it in that manner.
Ive seen plenty of motorway undertaking and lane swopping whihc would not cause me to take any action but agree that on the odd occasion someone losses all sense of resposnibility and goes for it.
They desreve all the points they get.
Unfortunately the police are limited in numbers on motorways now (lets not get into that one
)
Unless you see a really dangerous incident and explain to the police the degree of danger then I doubt much will happen.
Witnesses, report it straight away "its still happening as we speak", and more witnesses.
Happy driving and stay safe
Gemini
PS this driver was on his way from a job back to base (working!) and speaking to the managing director I have faith (from what and how he said) that some action which may prevent a further incident, will be taken.

Nice one Rich.
Its a nice feeling sometimes when someone gets what they deserve.
A couple of years ago i saw someone driving like a proper w**ker, swerving all around and doing a slow speed on a dualcarriageway whilst on his mobile. When i pulled alongside and tooted at him to get his attention he gave me the 'bird' whilst still holding his phone in his other hand.
I was on duty at the time but driving someone elses car back from Court and with a 'civvy' jacket over my uniform.
About an hour later i visited the mobile phone company concerned and the gentleman concerned was sacked on the spot.
Call me vindictive but...................!

Excellent.
I fail to see why a lot of people on the thread have turned this into a 'employment law' issue.
Bloody hell, Gemini was only telling a story that had a happy ending ! I would have thought most people would have applauded his actions. One idiot driver not getting away with it for a change.

lets hope he didnt take his bosses to employment tribunal - sacked on the spot is not a good idea. - no matter how satisfying or justified it may be.
There was more to it than my story. This was the straw that broke the camels back to coin a phrase and by the sounds of it they were more than pleased to get rid of him.
