Briefly, Zebra Danio, one of 4 along with 3 Platys
Had it for around 3 months, bought as a pair to go with two others, so one of the younger, smaller ones.
A couple of days ago it started to act strangely, slight curvature in the vertical plane, sometimes a slight lean (swim bladder?) sometimes slightly nose up.
Would stay still then dart around the tank life it was on speed! Then still again. Cannot see any fungus, whitespot or eaten fins etc, it seems to be a little redder than the others in its gills, (parasite?). The others started to attack it so I have separated it. Dosn't seem to have improved or deteriorated, have given it a recommended dose of eSHa 2000.
Any thoughts? Water quality excellent by the way. They are a hardy little fish.

My initial thought was water quality, as I've had curved spines occasionally in the past when water quality dipped - but you've ruled that out. Any possibility of foreign toxins coming in (i.e. aerosols sprayed in the same room, new plants/ornaments in the tank etc)?

I tend to stick to the Aloe Vera remedies due to plants/crustaceans in tanks (they don't like medication), and it helps - but often once the spine has curved then there isn't much you can do.

Unusual for a zebra to be affected first - as you say, they are hardy little guys.

Sorry that's not much help.

We had much the same thing with several of our fish recently. we bought some new ones from a local aquarium, added them to the tank and gave it a dose of that blue medicine type stuff.
We have a mix of tetras, goldfish, angle fish, some little hark like things etc. nothing flash or expensive.

All was well, then a week later several of the goldfish started getting really docile, and/or exhibiting the same behaviors you mentioned.

I had to leave for work overseas three weeks ago and all but two of the fish have died since I have been gone. i know a couple of the goldfish seemed to get bloated, and their scales seem to stick out like they were inflated.

I'm not too sure how to test water quality actually. We're in the Philippines, so resources are somewhat limited, and aquarium supplies, fish, fish food, of dubious quality too.

Still no improvement, TBH he/she is slowly deteriorating. Taken to lying on its side on the bottom, then darting round like its an hour before the shops shut on Christmas Eve.
The other fish seem fine, and this one has been ok in the 3 months that we've had it.
No external signs, def no sprays or other toxins that I can think of, again TBH it kind of looks like some kind of nervous disorder.

On a "lighter note" although not for the fish concerned, a friends daughter, this is about 30+ years ago, when she was about 6 or 7 I guess, decided to clean the goldfish bowl. Fairy liquid and swished the water around with a sponge....
The same girl was told she couldn't buy a hampster, so two days later she "found one under a table".....
