Afternoon all, off on a long road trip to S. of France and the wife is asking me to sort out an IPod/IPhone connector to the standard stereo which is better than the current radio frequency adapter set up.

Any ideas, is there an Aux in connector somewhere?

Thanks

In order of £££

Intravee
Dice
Philips Cassette adapter

I've used the last method this summer extensively, and it was better than expected.

Presumably that's in descending order? :-)

I'll try the Casette adapter, where did you get yours from?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0007R4LI8/ref=...

That's the one. It's not the nicest looking solution with the wire coming out of the radio, but I squeezed it alongside the transmission tunnel into the armrest (I replaced the phone holder with a storage cubby holder thingy) so the iphone/ipod is out of view and just set to play at the start of the journey.

In a previous car I did the same thing, but was able to route the cassette wire through the headunit to the back and then behind the dash to a convenient location... I may try that one day again

Cassette adapter works very well and is very cheap. Sony adaptor is about 10 quid on amazon. I cleaned the heads with an old cassette cleaner device and its pretty much bang on. Sit the iphone in the cupholder with a usb cigarette lighter charger and you're laughing.

I fitted the Dice unit in my M5 3 yrs ago, you can use the steering wheel controls to go through the IPOD and the track names come up on the OBC readout. Can't remember the cost of the unit, fairly straight foward to install, the hardest bit was getting the wiring loom from the boot to the front footwell area.

Simon.

Worth adding the Intravee II although expensive allows you to control other aspects of your car (folding mirrors, one touch auto door window/sunroof closure, one touch indicator flashes etc) and display various data on either the nav screen or other Multi Information Display screens (live speed, revs, coolent temp, PDC distance, track names, play lists etc). Depends how much you want to spend and how much of a geek you are.

Hi, those extra functions sound interesting, but I can't see them listed on the retailers web page. Is it fairly easy to access those features ?

Thanks - nice install! What set-up did you have before your install ? Reason for my q is that I'm wondering if the upgrades are more difficult if the car already has the "Loudspeaker system" option.

Thankyou smile The setup before was standard OEM (no M-Audio/DSP).

There's a BMW aux-in kit for your car for about £50 that'll give you a 3.5mm jack.
