Anybody know of a reasonably priced mobile A/C guy? Kwik-Fit are muppets and wouldn't do the car because it wouldn't fit on the ramp and despite not needing a ramp for re-gassing that's where their 110V socket is for the machine.

Cheers

I've got one more local options. If that fails I'll give him a bell.

Bad luck on the CDL module. Shame they don't have a secret way in like the TVR's.

I've used KF for a re-gas in the past for a number of cars. Never had issues with a re-gas (wouldn't use them for anything more than that) but I was a little bit worried about them screwing it up with the Lotus.

When are you up at Pure Lotus? I've got a couple of other small jobs needing done so probably worth getting them all done at the same time.

I don't know if this helps but I regassed my wife's X5 AC last month with a kit from Halfords - came in at £50 but included a 'free' antibacterial thingumy and you can get £10 back on the gas bottle. Took 10 mins to do and was really, really simple. It costs less the next time because you can reuse the valve bit.

The person I recommended above gave me some very helpful information about the kits Halfords sell. He said that they can only work if there is already gas in the system as otherwise it would need to be vacuumed first and the cans can't do that. He also said that he refuses to re-gas a car which has had a can used as the sealant they include destroys his equipment when he does the full vacuum and re-gas so it isn't worth him thinking about doing it. I know he is in business re-gassing and the kits could take his business but he gave me examples of driving to jobs and then refusing them without any money as it costs him less than replacing expensive gear.

How would he know if it's been regassed with a kit? If he can't he's playing russian roulette every time he goes to a job! Oh well, hopefully mine will be ok for the two or three years we keep it.

Asking people is a good start he uses! But he said he can often tell based on what they say to him about why they want the car re-gassed.

Any idea how much a mobile regas is?

BMW wanted £120, which I thought was a bit much.
