Sounds strange.

Not the sort of place you'd imagine there being a fatal accident in the middle of the day.

More to the story than is currently being reported I guess.

Tragic.

Isn't it a 30 limit along there Eric? Looking at the pic, I'd say someone was maybe going a bit quicker than that.

Yep, it's a 30....the road cambres quite a bit both sides...excess speed could shift the car the other way. Not sure what time it was, but the roads were VERY wet a times yesterday and also quite greasy...

Actually, having a had another look at the pic I was perhaps being a bit judgemental - at first glance I thought the Golf was on its roof.

it looks by the fact the police are only asking about the Golf that it may have been at fault.

It is a 30, and there are a couple bumps on the corner but further round from where the crash happened by the looks of the pic.

It was only last year a friends father was killed just on the exit of that corner while parked at the side unloading his dogs at the boot of his 4x4. A woman crashed straight into him. God knows what she was doing, looking at her mobile or something no doubt.

It looked pretty wet this time though, maybe the golf aquaplaned across into the bmw's path? At a guess ?? Not good for her or her family.

Certainly not good, people just shouldn't be dying in modern cars in 30mph limits.

This bit of road really needs some sort of control on it as you seem to see some of the worst driving in Aberdeen along there. 40MPH limit along the straight, SOLID white lines and speed camera either side. Sounds very nimby but could work.

Horrible situation and really do wonder what happened. Feel sorry for everyone involved.

It would do no harm to have it set definitely as either a single or dual carriageway. People treat it as both at the moment.
Peoples impatience is quite ridiculous at times, not unusual to be tailgated or over/undertaken at great speed for doing 30 in a 30.
In the traffic on the way home there was a corsa abandoned on king street as well with the front end completely mashed. How you manage that there I just don't know.

Agree its a bit of a weird road - very wide in places, which causes people to want to overtake (admittedly done it myself once or twice when it was quiet, heading North), and the section where the bend is, is again wide enough for two cars, so people treat it as such.

Only obvious place I would imagine a major crash could happen, is the cut off to the road past the driving range, bringing you to Pittodrie - not the best junction ever..

I was on the Beach Boulevard when the attending Ambulance and Fire engines went past. It was raining heavily and there was a lot of standing water on the roads so it's safe to presume that this could have been a contributing factor.

The corsa in question was parked under the back end of a range rover apparently. Seen this on facebook so not sure how true.

There is a few folk on the northsound 1 page commenting on there status about the crash, they are saying the golf was driving well above 30. One comment says at least 60 another says 100! Again, this is off facebook so could be crap!

I think this could possibly be an area where an average speed camera set-up would prove usefull along with some road markings!

I was there basically a minute or so after it happened.
Just as I was driving back along the beach there were heaps of emergency services vehicles going towards it.

Also agree with what's being said, something needs done. There was another fatal accident along that stretch of road just a few months ago too iirc.

Tragic that there has been two fatalities in as many months in exactly the same place, the last one was a chap I work withs son.

Something more than a camera or lines needs to be done, cameras don't work that's a proven fact, the big issue here is the camber on the road and the way the layout is in a half S shape for no apparent reason, remove the S and I can almost guarantee that the problem will be eradicated

My thoughts go out to the ladys family.

I think the issue is the standard of driving being shyte/too fast down there, not the road layout.

Agreed, the "general" standard of driving in Aberdeen is pretty poor to be fair, however that's something that cannot be rectified in a short period of time,

The poor road layout, off camber however can be sorted in a matter of weeks
