So, having just sold my SAAB 9-5 AERO. And with plans to purchase a Jaguar XJ-S. My wifes car needs to be more practical than the RenaultSport Clio 172 that she currently runs.
She had a Focus a few years ago and was very fond of it (until she drove it into the back of a Land Rover) but a Focus just wont be big enough..... So picked this up:
Its the 2.5 litre 24Valve Zetec S Model, which (I think) was the top spec Mondeo at the time (2001).

Thats a great car in a lovely colour - it looks really mint!!
Its unusual to see the alloys in decent nick, they are usually kerbed to death.
I had a silver one of these some time ago, and loved it; it sounded brilliant I thought.
They have a nice engine, but compared to todays standards, dont have much power for their size...170bhp if I remember?

Very tidy looking car. How much did you pay? As I've recently found out to my advantage these 'once were top of the range' big(ish) petrol engined cars aren't too desirable so make excellent 2nd hand buys/sheds.
Assume as with a previous comment they are circa 200bhp? How's the performance/thirst?

To answer some questions:
I paid £1200.00 for it, I have no idea if that's a good price for one of these, or the going rate (I couldn't find any others for sale to gauge the price). But it did seem like not a lot of money for the car - The car came with a years MOT, a good service history, TAX till November, 4 new tyres, and has covered just shy of 89k. It runs/turns/stops with everything feeling really tight.
The wheels did need a bit of 'touching up' and would benefit from a re-furb, but it will be my wife's car, and that would be a waste of money. The whole car polished up really well, with no dents or scuffs found - just one small scratch which is now sorted.
I wouldn't describe the car as feeling fast (maybe when I get the chance to explore the upper levels of the rev range it might come alive)? But it sounds nice and pulls cleanly in any gear at 1100rpm, which I like.
I plan to do a couple of things.... Firstly, missing in the photos are the two alloy fog light surrounds (I am re-finishing them) and I plan to swap the yellowing clear side repeaters for some Amber ones, and after having factory Xenons on my last few cars, I need to so something about the headlights. Oh, and some tailored overmats.

Left hand side (indicator stalk) button should scroll through the various menus of the trip computer.
