Having recently changed my Steve Heath drop links for the Leven versions, i note the rose joints are not only protected with rubber boots but have lubrication points.

I assume that the rose joints are not self lubricating with teflon coating or similar, so begs the question how often should these receive grease and of what type or viscocity should be used?

The grease points look like a standard type for which i have a suitable grease gun but no idea of recommended grease or intervals - rather not guess.

Yes - tried Leven

Well - the long & short of it is that the Rose Joint is dry anyway behind the rubber and the recommendation is to run them dry with an option to lubricate them if desired (presumably when they start to wear & making a noise).

It does seem a lot of effort to construct a lube piont if they are best run dry! Did your come with instructions ?

They seem to work well after an extended Wales jaunt this weekend - shows how worn the SH RJ's had become after 10k!

Good luck.

my SH were seized after about a year on the car, refurbed them with new rose joints and rubber boots, just need to do the rears now.

Rose joints with lubrication nipples need to be regularly greased about every 6 months so that they do not run dry. They typically need a film of greece/oil as the bearing surface and without the lubrication they can die very quickly. As they are used, the grease/oil is forced out between the bearing surfaces which is why they need regular treatment. Bit like going back to greasing your trunnions every thousand miles or so.

If run dry they will wear as there is no lubrication what so ever.

The boots are also not 100% weather proof and water will get in down the threads. It is essentially to fill the boot with grease as well so that the boot does not act as a water holder which causes corrosion.
