Hi peeps...I have been slowly cleaning up all the pipe work to the supercharger and im sourcing some gaskets at the moment..Or rather having them made as the pipes were joined with a thick layer of RTV but i want to seal it all up properly...The unit is very dirty and i was contemplating stripping it down to clean it and then re-grease it, Although im not too sure at this stage..I have spoken to sprintex in australia and although no info was obtainable they were very helpful in advising what grease and oil to use..The oil reservoir looks a bit bodged so i might try to source another...It also looks like its had a blow out and has been repaired..Is that a bad sign?...The dizzy is cleaning up well...Cheers...Ziga

Wow that's dirty, brake cleaner and chrome polish work well on those kinds of things mate, you won't regret the polish after it's shiny like a mirror!

I assume that the action of the rotors are super smooth and no end float on the pulley? When you say blow out what is the repair on the casting?

Hi Zig,
Have you been talking to sprinted In WA?
I've been meaning to contact them, just not got round to it yet.
What oil did they recommend for the SC?
Cheers

Hi Chris..The repair looks like its been done to a hole which looks like a blow hole..Like a bullet!!..The pulley feels fairly smooth, There is no grinding or difficulty moving it and there doesnt seem to be any play..

Hi Adam..Sprintex recommended Castrol VMX80 oil and APXT grease for the bearings...The guy that i have been conversing with who has the same kit fitted uses Castrol EP80 or EP90 oil..Hope this helps mate..Cheers...ziga

Yes it does look dirty, but just because he's polishing it doesn't make it work. Yet again Mark is doing the bling thing before he knows its works, and then we will have his tales of wo when it doesn't

Please Mark get things working then worry about the bling!

Hi Andy...The guy accepts returns and it will be returned if it doesnt work, I dont want to put it on until i have cleaned it and re-greased it as any crap will end up in MY engine, Plus if its fitted and i wanted to clean it then it would have to be dismantled so i would rather do it once and be done...Cheers...Ziga

Sorry you know that bling is you thing, get it working by cleaning the inside and re-greaseing OK but get it working! Then worry about the bling, because if it doesn't work, you will not get the money back!

Another good source of information on these things is Dennis Priddle - who fitted them to the SX's - I have his phone number somewhere. As for lubrication I wouldn't dismantle. Dennis told me 5 years ago just to use ATF and don't bother with the bearing greasing. I have put over 40k miles on it with that regime so I can recommend it too.

Post up some pictures of the vanes - you may need to turn it slowly and take multiple pics - so we can see their condition. I think you should only turn in the direction of rotation of the engine.

Hi Adam..Good job i decided not to dismantle it, I did remove the holding bracket and the rear housing and have cleaned it as it was well grimey in there..There does seem to be some small scratches on the veins, There is also some scoring at the rear end internally but there is no grinding noises..Just my heavy breathing.. smile
It does turn easily in the opposite direction..There is an arrow on it and i assume this is rotation, Im turning it the indicated way in the video's...Cheers..Ziga

I fully agree with getting it clean zig,if you'd bought it new it would be clean so it gives incentive to reach a goal by getting as near to new as you can, besides if anyone is gonna dial it it for you they're not gonna want to work with crap so Yeh,get it clean. Some people with an abundance of money can be too vocal with their criticisms of those just trying to do stuff within a budget. Wooly.

As I am the person who helped Zig get this new bit of kit! I am just wanting him to get it runing as all he is doing is a lot of hard work, and if the unit is US the he is wasting his time! Then all we will get is his usual drama scene for a few days. He has a habit of not doing things in a sensable order, which keep costting him money and greif and all I and some other people want is to help him sort it!
I also have to work to a budget and even today (When I can) I do all my own work!
The reason why I may have a lttle money is due to nearly being killed and I take offence to your comments "Some people with an abundance of money". I think those comments are distaste full and if people think that of me then they don't know me!

Now..Now..Come on chaps..I take all critisism on board and yes sometimes i do go about it all wrong but i think i did the right thing this time by getting my engine checked albeit a waste of time and money..Better safe than sorry!..And while its just sitting there then there is no harm in getting it cleaned up, It was in a right greasy mess and to be honest i nearly dropped it because it was covered in oil which had leaked all over it from the oil reservoir clipped to the side of the unit..Its all been de-greased now and the majority is shiny, I havent gone over board on it..And now that i know that...

1.My engine is still ok.

2.I have a race prepared 2.8 V6 cologne engine put aside for next year.

Then i will be fitting the kit to my wedge before the end of the year..It is designed to run on a standard 2.8i set-up, I just need a few modified parts..(Pipes)..And im ready to go...

Andy is right he did help me get this bit of kit and im very grateful but its not because he has an abundance of money..He offered to help because he wanted to, people with an abundance of money dont!..Thats why they have a bigger pot than you or i...Cheers...Ziga

Zig - did you get toothed pulleys with this kit? If so how does the number of teeth count up both on the crank pulley and the blower pulley? This will tell you the step-up ratio for the blower.

Also what is the red line for the engine - 5500rpm - or similar?

Nice reply Andy, one important note is no body was named. I reckon it would be better for the TVR wedge forum to keep the back biting and the handbag slapping off it and to mail the victim/aggressor privately or directly that way it keeps the forum for what its meant. I have noticed in my short time that it all gets a bit handbags at dawn and it takes up valuable breathing time, dont you think.
Love to all,woolyvomit
