I would Just like to say thank you to Ben / Phil and Ant at Offord TVR, for there help when I had a major problem.
It all started on Friday just as the Bank Holiday was starting, Jean and myself loaded up the Yellow T350t
ready to go to Chris Evans Car Fest, all was well when we left home from Little Paxton, we got out onto the A1 and suddenly it started to only fire on 5 cylinders, I thought oh crap, smoke was pouring out of the exhaust.
We were heading to Tesco's to meet up with the other TVR's going to Car Fest, when we got there it was getting worse, after some discussion the others went off and we decided to call for recovery, after a discussion with Ben at Offord's.
We called the RAC after we limpt it further on back towards St.Neots Station and then stopped, The RAC were there in 30 minuites and then a pick-up 30 minutes after, the guy knew exactly what he was doing when he put the car onto the pick-up. The RAC were great and recovered it back to Offord's.
Ben and Phil stopped all there work on other vehicles and rolled mine into the workshop.
Oh I forgot to say petrol was pouring into the engine and filling up the exhaust (not good).
They knew we were going to Car Fest and pulled out all the stops, the problem was an injector that was jammed open letting fuel into the cylinder, it was so full the engine would not turn over, Ben worked on the car stripping the top end down, the smell of fuel was unreal, I helped out like a surgeons under study and Jean was making the Coffee and Tea.
Anyway, the offending fuel injector, caused a problem as they had none in stock, Ben suddenly thought there was a Tuscan throttle body and injectors in a lock-up the other side of Huntingdon, so he said I won't be long and went off to get it, 3/4 of an hour later he was back with an injector.
While he was gone I was cleaning up around the engine and body where the fuel went every where when clearing the cylinder the fuel smelt off if you know what I mean.
The new injector was fitted and everything put back together, everything checked, right let's turn it over
the engine puffed and then suddenly sprung into life, smoke was pouring out the back and fuel where it was still in the exhaust, Ben and Phil put fire extinguisher's around the car just in case and kept an eye on the temperature's with a monitor, the workshop filled with smoke and fumes and fuel on the floor, it was like Ivor the Engine in a tunnel, anyway it started to clear and Ben re-adjusted and calibrated everything it was running fine and sounded good.
We finally left just after 8pm and got to Car Fest at 10.30pm which was incredible, Ben had given up his time and worked on the car until it was done, he was going on holiday the following morning.
Jean and Myself cannot thank them enough (Ben Phil and Ant )for what they did, and how they put themselves out, the weekend was great and the car was great no problems after that.
Last night Tuesday 28th August, 19 TVR's took part in giving fast ride's in there cars (for the Burn's Camp)at Alconbury Airfield (people that have burns you would not believe)It was a great evening the car never missed a beat and went like a Rocket.
Thanks Guys a lot. Go and visit Offord's and try them they are now very good and a local TVR Garage.
