I was lucky enough to be invited to a private track night at Knockhill last night. I took my youngest daughter, now aged 21 ( yes I am that old) with me as
1. She had never been to any racing circuit including Knockhill
2. Therefore, she had never driven one before
3. She had never driven any of my old cars before, including the 328GTS

I gave her the probably completely ignored chat on the way up about driving and safety and circuit etiquette. Then took her out for a few laps on the circuit with me driving. It was a reverse night, so being a moron I of course wondered at one point why cars were behind me and not overtaking!

When we came in , I gave her a brief drive around the car park, to get used to the car and its ‘dog leg’ gearchange from 1st and then straight onto the circuit!

She drove incredibly well and probably neater and cleaner than me. We did our best to stay out of the way of other cars and keep left nor right like me. She did hang onto 2nd a bit too long and the car at about 7000rpm and hit the limiter in 3rd a few times on the main straight.

Mas in his R26n and another nice gentleman in a Lotus Exige engined Metro took her out in their cars, resulting in her being ill!

Thought I would share this with you. We sometimes slag off the younger ones and it’s nice to see them do something really well

She wanted a Fiat X1/9 when she was small, so got her one which she has been driving for the past year. I like them driving older cars although worry for their safety compared to modern ones. Would have loved to get an old Fiat 500 but their mother wouldnt allow it.
I kep telling them, if they can drive an old car properly then they can drive anything!

Lots of nice new toys there! That new Atom was gorgeous......as was that wild 205 bhp metro, the R26n ok I will shut up

If you had a 21 year old boy, you would be posting up that he wrote your car off on the 1st bend!!!
Smooth can = quick and that's why she's done so well.
Glad i've got a daughter.
