Vantage: how to take off / dismantle mirror support?

Hi there, can anybody help me please? I have the famous issue of corrosion on my Roadster's mirror support. It started out with a little white area. Then I was so stupid to forget this and clean the car with the washing machine which basically sprayed away half of the paint. I now have a car which on one side has 10 centimeters of bare aluminium. Very ugly! Car is 4.5 years old. No warranty they say since it is probably caused from the outside (stone chip or so).

Anyway, I now want to sand the supports at both sides and have them properly painted. If they can come off completely I would like them to be powder coated with the exact original black "bubbling surface".

However, how do you take these things off? I tried to find something on the internet and it seems a bit like the little front glass in the front door is somehow one piece with the mirror support and the mirrors? In that case powder coating is no option anymore. I tried the screws that are visible at the outside but this only seems to do with the mirror itself.

Is there anybody out there who did this once and can explain in a few words how one does this. Million thanks in advance!

Removing them on a Vantage means door card off and quarter light glass out

Thanks. Any idea whether this is a lot of work and do you need special kit or so to put everything back together?

The dealer cocked up both mine under warranty, so I've not done it myself.
I only know it is door card off and glass out after demand and explanation for all the silicon and scratches on the doors

Or you could do what most others do. Take the car to a vinyl wrap place and get them wrapped in situ. A fraction of the cost and time, better finish than original, maintenance free and any colour you fancy, even carbon.

I know it's been done on chrome trims and side strakes.
I can see it working on a DB mirror stalk but the Vantage one is quite intricate, combined with the powdery corrosion of the Aluminium it may not stick
Worth a look though!

Worked fine on my DB9 and I know others that have done it also. Obviously, you clean off the corrosion first!

As I say DB mirrors are easier and less intricate & Al is notorious for corroding even when it has bee cleaned and covered over - worth a try though
