Hi all. I bought a cheap TV off ebay with Freesat built in (for the kitchen)

I only have a sky dish on my house with a quad LNB.

Question - When I plug in the sky dish lead directly into the TV (i.e. not through the sky box, it says no signal, having run through the auto set up. Would this be normal or shall I investigate a broken TV? I thought Sky dish's can run Freesat?

I'd be looking at the tv, old sky dishes are fine for freesat, thats what I use anyway....

You've tried your Sky box on that connection and it works, yes? If Sky box recieves signal then feed is probably ok.
Right, make and model of tv? Is it a tv for UK market? There are very few true Freesat tvs in UK, mostly just Panasonic ones and they were all 32" and above. Panasonic have even cut there Freesat tv range drastically to just being on there large 3D sets only as pvrs have come down in price and popularity.
Think Sony dabbled but dropped the idea pretty quickly and LG also.
If it has a Freesat tuner then it will have the Freesat logo on the front or stamped into the manufacturers label on the back as this is a requirement of Freesat for the license.
If it doesn't and its from Ebay then its probably a European grey import with a FTA tuner for another satellite. Which case it wont work as your dish is aligned for Astra satellite but the tuner is searching for a Hotbird or Intelstat etc signal.

Ahh after I wrote all that. Just relaying somr of the things I come up against in my line of work. Strange it didn't search the sat signal in its first time install.
Good job sussing it and enjoy.
