A few months ago I heard of an incident where a Gatso was fired repeatedly by a group of kids using nothing more than an empty catering tin of coffee and a piece of string. Swing it round (in a verticle circle?) fast enough and bingo - coffee tin photo with a time and date stamp!

Real or urban myth?

I heard the same thing about wrapping a football in tin foil and booting it past a gatso. That's got to make a great photo.

True,
They can calibrate them using a spinning corner cube reflector (same thing that a boat has on its mast). A tin with a few exposed corners on it would work just as well. I wonder what the offence (if any) would be ?

I read somewhere about a newly installed camera on the continent...

The camera was film based and seemed to be eating up film at a ridiculous rate..

After sending the films off for "processing" it was discovered that the reason was the camera's location..

It had been installed right next to a high speed train line and was being triggered by each carriage of the passing trains!!!!

Not sure whether that is an apocryphal tale or not.. but it tickled me..

Some of the guys at work were going to use a car to push a shopping trolly past one at 35, have to modify the trolly to keep going straight at that speed and make sure you stop the car before the camera. Sounds like fun though...

How about getting 20 mates, dropping your pants, then get someone one on a bike with a blacked out number to trigger it. I've heard this has been done before, but it may just be an urban myth.
