Hello,

My Mrs is due any day now and I have a Sony Alpha 200 to capture the moment! I turned it on today to see if it is working order and it vibrates!

It continuously vibrates like it is recieving a text message or a phone call! It vibrates so much it moves itself over the table eek

Any ideas?

Whip the battery out, give it 10 minutes, then pop it back in and see what happens.

It is the only lens I have, I have put it all to manual and it takes a picture without any lens no problem. It doesn't matter if the lens is set to AF of Manual it still vibrates.

battery is out now so I shall see if that fixes it.

Does it have the 'Super Steady Shot mechanism'. It could be that.

Not sure I'd try, but read this:

I had EXACTLY the same problem.... the noise was REALLY loud an sounded like it was going to blow up! taken 15,000+ pics with my a100 now... and had no clue as to what this was. Not being a patient person when it comes to mechanical faults... I decided to twist the focus ring as hard as I could anti-clockwise (off the camera!) and it clicked.... put the lens back on and hey presto... as good as new!

Bizzare!

I just remembered..... when you pressed the lens release button when it was buzzing... did it stop? mine did.... which led me to believe it was something to do with the auto focus thing in the lens..... you know... the bit that looks like a screw that spins when you zoom the lens.
