My girlfriend is looking for a new car, she wants 3 doors, sit up higher than normal, easy opening wide tailgate (like Freelander style) for dog and shopping (and she has back problems). Thought and looked at Freelander, not looked at but thought of RAV4, X-Trail, CR-V.

Anymore worthy of consideration ? About 8k to spend on second hand motor.

If it must be a 3dr, then a RAV4, Vitara or Freelander are going to be the only options...I think!

Well, she wants a 3 door but lets say 5 door as well and see what people come up with.

Simon

I can 100% recommend the Rav 4 - great car.

We've had 2 (but I would avoid the 1.8 NV front wheel drive model. We have a 51 plate one and it does not drive as well as our old 1995 2.0 GS, the latter is showing 138,00 miles).

In the same boat myself, hopefully getting another dog in the future but I am fed up taxing/insuring 2 cars and I would need a vehicle with a low back for the hound after a bit of research I have decided a 2 door rav4 is ideal back seats can be removed leaving plenty of room and with your money you should get a tidy 6 speed oil burner, thats the route I am going down.

Bigger 4x4s like the Shogun and Landcruiser came in SWB 3-door models, if they appeal?

Just to be a total anorak, the last RAV 3dr diesel will be the 2.0 D4D engine, which is a 5 speed. The newer 2.2 D4D 5dr only model have the 6 speed. nerd
