Ok, so a bit of a sensationalised title, but had the pleasure of buzzing around in a Twizy today. My God they're fun. Went down to Saltaire near Badford then into Leeds City Centre, this thing gets noticed everywhere, and not in the laughable noticed I expected. Yes one scrote shouted 'dhead' at us as we were 2 up in it (little me in the back), but everyone else was a thumbs up.

Driving into the centre of Leeds and loads of heads were turning, we drove in front of the town hall only to hear something incredible coming from up a street - only a McLaren MP4-12C. We pulled up alongside him and the guy was like 'what is that?'. Such a top bloke he let us in front of him and pulled over for a closer look

I kid you not within seconds of that pic the cars were swamped by people, and guess what most people were running for a snap of? Yep, the Twizy!!! (uneducated obviously) The guy really liked it, people on here must know him as he has a 959 and a Macca F1 in his collection.

He left in a roar (video to follow) but we were conducting a bit of a test to see what people thought for an online magazine. Obviously it attracted quite a bit of attention from old and young

The surprising thing that came out of it was people thought at £6k and the battery lease it was a cheap deal. I thought people would think it was expensive for a car with optional doors, 2 seats, no storage and a 50 mile range. How wrong we were, people seemed to be walking away with a question put into their mind of does this make sense.

Finally a guy came over to us and said this is the future, everyone will commute to work on these and then have a family car or sports car at home - he made it sound like an obvious plan (and brought me round). However, there is no charge point in Leeds so we were getting a bit twitchy about getting home, luckily we did, but it did highlight the obvious downfall of these little machines.

Just posted on here to see what PH thought about the Twizy, and also to show how stupid normal people are (joke) for photographing the Renault over the McLaren

He's not on PH, but someone is bound to know him with that collection. He dealt in machinery he said, but we quickly skipped over that when he said he had a F1 at home. Oh, he couldn't open the door with the daft touch thing, he was furious with itlaugh Being the good Ph'er though I told him of the upgrade of putting some sort of button that's happening on the next upgraded car

It would make sense to me as a commuting vehicle. Unfortunately the quoted price from Renault, once the doors are added, is £7235. Plus I have to lease the battery.

I suppose that's only just over a thousand gallons of petrol. That's a good few years commuting for me though to pay it back. Even assuming I charge the Twizy at work so it's free to fuel...

Just got a rough quote for £159/month for 4 years on a PCP, though final payment not known yet. This did include the battery lease though.

As I type this I'm trying to work out my monthly fuel bill and wondering if I could have one for free using man maths

You were conducting a test for an online magazine and a Mclaren MP12-4C just happened to rendezvous outside a Raddison hotel?

I was the first member of the public to drive one of the Twizys up the hill at Goodwood at the Moving Motor show in July. It was bloody good fun, especially as it had no (optional) doors! Love them, just can't really see them working in the uk, unless it stops raining.

I'm a tad obsessed with the Twizy! If I could afford one I'd have one in an instant biggrin

I may just need to pop down to a Renault dealer for a test drive wink

Honestly go for a test drive, great gun

@Arun - yeah the downside for me was we couldn't charge it up in Leeds, which is supposed to be a modern up to date city...
